Jaguar bike ?

I recently purchased a bike called a Jaguar but don't know anything about it - trying to figure out who manufactured it and when

Mascots on the front mudguard (fender) always seemed to be more USA than UK

I think the OP may be in the US. Were mostly Brits here but I'm sure @Gravity Aided will have some info.
Schwinn made a Jaguar model but this looks to be the make.
Could be fifties/sixties.

The Sturmey - Archer hub should give the year (assuming it's original). It looks like bolt on seat stays which would suggest '50s or '60s at a push (or before but I don't think it's that old).

I've never seen a little mascot on a front fender before. It looks lugged and well made. No concept as to provenance. I think it may be German.

They seem to be cheap West German bikes made in the 1960s.

No real value to it but what an interesting bike. Well worth a bit of time and money spent to bring it back to usable condition.
The Weinmann brakes should have been the clue to its German heritage.

Nah, in The States back then, we put Weinmanns on everything that didn't get Campagnolo or Shimano.
