Sad news but as you say not unexpected. He carried on with dignity.

Whilst I haven’t listened to him for maybe 25 years, I was a regular listener back in the old days of Talk Radio in the late 90s. I used to love him and Tommy Boyd.

crap that.

His telly show was decent back in the early 90's after the pub/ before hitman n her.

Heck Hitman and Her! Pete Waterman, Michaela Strachan and Wiggy!😉 They did the show once from Lar De Dars night club in Accrington, with Coventry born Pete Waterman constantly mimicking our east Lancashire accent...in a friendly way of course! 😉 Sadly I couldn't get a ticket, so I had to settle for watching it on tv.🙄

One night on the TV his guest was Peter Stringfellow and as Maz's ex-husband always claimed to be mates with him (working together and sharing a flat) Maz's sister Sue decided to ring in to find out. It transpired to be true and when the club in Sheffield closed Peter went on to open a club in Manchester and invited Pat (the ex) to go with him but Pat said "I've landed a gig at the 'Adam and Eve' in Leicester" so they parted ways. (Stringfellow wasn't famous then) He then went on to say Pat was one of the best DJ's he ever worked with but the clincher for Sue was when he said "Do his feet still stink ?"

That's where I remember him from mainly. Never heard him on the radio but I kind of knew of him as he popped up here and there.

Sad news.

Tommy Boyd was the master of the wind up, his afternoon show was always entertaining.
