Johnny Berry bikes

I saw a Johnny Berry bike for sale recently; it went for much more (£300) than I would have expected for what looked to be a standard 531 framed bike. I've never seen one and unusually, can't find any reference on the Internet.

I'd like to know what was so special about his bikes.
