The trick is intention.
Motorway or dual carriageway on joining and staying in the inside lane no need to signal, but If you are intending to move into an outer lane, the signal gives other drivers notice of that intention as you join
The junction is different in different images. In one case the "central lane" is for traffic turning into your junction, and in another has a hatched "reservation"
In both cases you will stay in the lane, so no signal
