I purchased a Class 10 32GB MicroSD card from Amazon yesterday (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00768ZRCA/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and paid £8 for express postage so I could have it in time for a CycleChat ride on Saturday.

I got the package today, it all looks good and I open it up. It's a Samsung card so I was expecting quality. I put it into my camera and formatted it and then shot some footage. When it came time to play back the footage, that's when I knew something wasn't right. The footage was *seriously* jerky, something you would expect a Class 1 card to do.

I downloaded DiskBench to measure the cards transfer rate... 12 MB/s. Not good, the card claimed that it transferred at 70 MB/s.

All in all, it was NOT a Samsung card and it was NOT a Class 10 card (more like Class 1). After digging through the fake reviews, I found the real ones. One star, one star, one star.

Wrong! I was dismayed to discover after just completing Amazon's Product-Returns procedure, the spate of recent abysmal customer-reviews for this card. And I can confirm the underlying sentiment - these are not 'Class-10' cards, so either the Seller is reselling a batch of 'fake' Samsung-badged cards, or he's trying to pull a fast-one here!

13.28 MB READ and 7.320 MB WRITE samsung certify this card for 24 read and 14 write! and maximun tollerance for this card is 20 read and 13 write.
TOTALLY FAKE CARD!

Quite clearly a fake based on the speed testing. Definitely not Class 10 as hoped for.

Very disappointed. Now I have to return it to Amazon and fork out another £25 and get another one posted while I wait on this return to process. Hope you all didn't mind the rant :cursing:

Why would you have to pay to return a faulty/fake product?

I think that's pretty much standard returns policy for Amazon - you get the cheaper prices when you buy, but if anything goes wrong it's up to you to return it.

I bought some Sidi shoes off Amazon but turned out they were too small, I followed their returns procedure to get a bigger size with no problems. The new shoes were dispatched the same day and I had 30 days to return the small ones or be charged twice.
Amazon give the option of returning the shoes with their courier for free or send via Royal Mail and they reimburse the cost.

If you buy Memory Cards or USB Flash Drives off amazon make sure who you are actually buying off, the link you have posted is for a product sold by Komputerbay not amazon so to be honest I wouldnt touch it with a 10 foot bargepole. There has been a lot of this happening so only buy this kind of product from amazon and not one of the affiliates.

I have bought 2 x 32gb Samsumg MicroSD cards off amazon and they were both genuine as I made sure it was a genuine samsung product sold by amazon and not one of the affiliated sellers.

If I was you I would fire off an email to customer support telling them you expect your money back for the premium carriage you paid for.

I'll make sure I'm buying from Amazon next time. I'm going to buy another card now, a 32GB Class 10 card would be good - do you have any experiences with any sellers or any good links for a card on Amazon?

You should be able to search by seller and select only items sold by amazon.

I use these guys a lot -> http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Micro-SD they are not particulary quick but I have never had a problem with the products being fake and the only experience I had of sending something back went ok.

Amazon, tax dodging schmucks, they dont seem to have any checking of sellers and products, had several hookey photographic items from them (filters, cards, etc) will never use them again, I now will always try and support the local shops, although they are getting few and far between. :-(
