Primal Scream

Get your rocks off
Went for a shortish ride tonight and on the way stopped at a cash machine, as I was riding off I caught a full length reflection in a shop window, really looked the part :becool: , talk about all the gear a not much idea

It was just an illusion  or more accurately an OMIL.

God I love cycling, I feel years younger after the last 20 months on a bike. ^_^

If you "look the part", do you get less grief off drivers (on the theory that they must think you know what your doing)?

When i get grief for being in primary position, i often wonder how mtb'ers fair, do they get even more grief than roadies?

This theory will shortly be tested when i get my mtb and buy some baggy shorts (lycra is not going to look right on an mtb is it?)

Much of my riding is at off peak times and tbh I have found drivers careful and courteous in the main (touch wood). Thing is in London drivers have become very aware of cyclists.

As for the clothing wear what you like, I once had a mate comment when I was on my mtb that the helmet (road version) wasn't suitable, my answer was b@llocks.

What I've found is that riding around on a vintage roadster in normal clothes, you will never be hassled by anyone.

Ride a road bike and look vaguely like a proper cyclist is when you start to get the left hooks and close passes in my experience.

Perhaps drivers know a 50lb Raleigh could probably destroy a small car:laugh:
