I know it's only a car, and the point is that all 4 people in the two cars were fine but god it's a load of hassle and stress that I could really have done without.

I'm completely without fault (they all say that) as the other party didn't wait for their green light before she pulled across my lane allowing me to graciously smash into the side of her. Silly mare- she's only been driving for 1 year and was in mummy and daddies car.

Hopefully the insurance will do what I pay it for and it'll all go through easily, car will be written off so need to organise a replacement as well as a gazillion phone calls and e-mails to process.

I have a glass of whiskey and a frown on

I hope you have reliable witnesses to back-up your story because it doesn't matter how apologetic the other party was at the time you can be almost certain they will later claim that it was you that went through a red light if they think they can get away with it.

Yeah I had one chap stop who confirmed my side of the story and got his details- especially as technically we both went through green- she was in a weird feeder lane where she was allowed to proceed if it was clear or wait for a green arrow.

Be prepared for your insurance premiums to rise even though it wasn't your fault, and if your car is a write off to be offered too low an amount to replace with like for like

Glad all are ok though

I have liked your post because i sympathize. Bit of a ball ache, i can imagine. Be aware though. I hear of people admitting liability and changing their story.

I've had 3 no-fault accidents, at least 2 involving being stopped (that is, already stopped at already....) red lights, and no at fault claims. And I've paid over and over for other peoples' incompetence. Thank you insurance, and the unwanted phone calls from the injury insurance leeches (open season after a claim), for punishing me and my private life for obeying the rules of the road. And we wonder why people feel entitled to drive as they do! Sheer madness.

Glad you're OK @helston90 - still v frustrating and annoying in equal measure.

I had my car broken into last February and I am truly sick and tired of people ringing me to help me claim from the third party I was in the accident with !!!!!!!

Luckily, they all get my first name wrong so I know it's one of "them". Depending upon how they speak to me, sometimes I can be firm but fair; other times a bit short or even string them on a bit. All helps me deal with the torment !! (Then I block their number in my phone ;))

Go Pro are handy in these situations,-
My youngest daughter is a mare when we are are banger racing, she is a better racer than me, good luck with the claim.

Sorry to hear this but glad everyone is OK.

I used to work on the claims line for Norwich Union, we used to get the assessors out very quickly. For a written off vehicle, we would often have a cheque in the post within 6-10 days, so I hope that you don't have too long to wait.
May be in some cases that is reasonable; a good driver will anticipate other peoples mistakes and avoid collisions that they would never of had any liability for had they occurred.

But in general I do agree insurance companies are a complete rip off and can not be trusted to be fair and reasonable in how they conduct themselves
Anticipate!? You live in the middle of nowhere. If you had to anticipate someone crossing your path you would be standing still for a month.

I disagree, in fact I had an incident 3 days ago where anticipating that the other guy wasn't going to stop prevented me being broadsided when the idiot drove straight across a mini-roundabout as if I wasn't there.
