Hi all just done the commute for the 1st time since getting my bike 2 weeks ago 18 mile round trip really enjoyed it,considering I'm quite unfit and a couple of stone overweight am well pleased to have done it in 45 mins each way. worst part was getting up at 4-15 am for a 6 am start:sad:
Hopefully can do this 2 or 3 times a week now and get fit and slim

Well done potsy . I prefer the bike for my journey to work cause I can get a longer lie, the bus takes longer and its times aren't that convenient and goodness knows how long a car would take and then where would I park it.

excelent, well done, when you say 6am start is that work or when you start the ride? Cos 1hr 45mins to get ready for a ride is a long time:biggrin:

Congrats pottsy.I almost remember my first commutes in 1981 although it never occurred to me to post it on the interweb at the time.;)

I was lucky with my commute as I started off with only about three miles and gradually moved farther away until I ended up with a commute similar to yours.

Well done! I doubt I would've considered doing 9 miles to work back when I started.

You've started at just the right time - nothing beats early morning commutes in the sun (which'll be shining on you in a few weeks in the early hours).

There's something magical about sailing along, with the sun shining, the birds twittering and everything seeming new and fresh each day.
