All packed and will shortly be riding down to Portsmouth to get the overnight ferry to St.Malo. Just a short break, coming back Cherbourg to Poole overnight Thursday. Weather forecast looks perfect, see you in a few days

Short and sweet: bonbon vacance! :becool:

Well that felt like a summer tour, mid 20's deg C, balmy nights and wall to wall sunshine! Really nice little trip, 244 miles door to door. Everywhere seemed very quiet, including the ferries 'till we got back to Poole anyway.

Roll on August for a 2 -3 weeker!

....
I presume you came back to Poole on the Barfleur? Whats it like for a cyclist ie do you park the bike on the normal car deck? do they let you down to the bike during the trip back? etc etc Im hoping to come back to Poole in June on the same boat and have never done a ferry before with the bike. I live in Poole so am also tempted to make use of any ferry offers that appear in the local rag.

cheers

Yep, were on the Barfleur. Standard ferry / cyclist set up. Ride on (well walk) and stow bike on the cardeck, which is then secured for the crossing. Brittany ferries aren't cheap but facilities and food are pretty good.

This is the (I think) 8th bike on ferry to France or Spain we've done, it's a great way to travel, beats flying any day of the week.
