Just moved back to the uk after six months in Bali indonesia. You thing traffic is bad over here try to commute over there. I made the mistake of buying a a cheap racer over there all the bikes are badly put together and falling to bits. The first culture shock is that when someone honks on the hooter its not a warning it means they are coming through. Traffic lights ignore the filter free for all. The roads are barely there dirt track etc pot holes the size of swimming pools. They all drive on the same side of the road when they feel like and whatever takes their fancy really could be left could be right it depends on which way the wind is blowing. Things to be aware of first week I was out there got attacked by local dogs ran straight in front of me barking hit it at full speed and went over the handle bars, be careful no nhs private medical insurance expensive medical bills. Dog are not the only problem lizards, cobras and other wonderful animals, I have seen one wasnt sure if they were pulling my leg rats the size of kittens. Coupled with that being an ex london road bike addict I soon found out very quickly that 38 degress heat and racing round like a lunatic in the middle of the day is never a good idea as you are bound to be covered in sweat in five minutes flat. Riding at night with or without a light is a nono locals seem to be okay as they use their night ninja techniques. Riding on the path forget it they are worse than the roads in fact just dont bother in general god I am glad to be back int eh uk.
