Don`t wanna be a Captain Paranoid BUT .. I have just received an ordered chain from Merlin Cycles. The chain ordered was a KMC X10 - SL. That SL prob means superlight. I got this chain for just under £30 which was about 7 quid cheaper than elsewhere. My possible problem - it is not stamped SL anywhere on the links. Anyone know if the KMC X10-SL actually has such a marking or not ?
PS Chain arrived unboxed in bubble-wrap.

Had a brainwave and weighed my new chain. It comes in at 240g ( the advertised weight for the SL ). There is no weight given for the non SL chain. My query sort of still stands tho .. would`ve expected SL to be on the chain somewhere.

Yeah, it is a KMC chain OK. It does not tho have SL on it anywhere and I would have expected it to.

You are Captain Paranoid AICMFP.

It's pretty common to get chains unboxed. Bike shops can get bulk discount when buying from the wholesaler, they come in boxes of hundreds! Cheaper for the shop (normally) means cheaper for you!

KMC SL chains have slots in the outer plates to reduce the weight.

Non-SL chains have solid side plates.

And collect crud, which is why I don't bother paying extra for them.
