Yes, just trying to say that the Garmin recorded information is useful for the OP - this will back up that she said she was stationery. For me, it was that I was going slow and in the middle of my lane.

The speed side I can understand, but accurate to 15 - 20 foot!

Well, that was interesting. I was reversed into (while stationary) tonight on the way home. I'm OK I think, but cross, and I'm typing up my recollections while I sleep on whether or not to report to the police. (will also check bike over properly tomorrow but I think she's fine).

Strava was recording at the time, but I don't have a camera yet (I was toying with the idea, I think I might be shopping online later!!). How can I use the Strava info to prove where the incident was? I have the 'auto pause' thingy on.

Presumably when you are recovered, the insurance company will pay out a sum in line with norms for your injury and prognosis and any out of pocket, loss of earnings and what not.

The injury is one thing, the others are uninsured losses I think, and not easy to reclaim. Loss of earnings, in particular, is often included in a claim and rarely settled.

I anticipate no issue personally. I was 3 weeks into a new job, with no pay during probation period according to contract. I had two days off following the accident, a day off for the surgery and 5 days to recover from the surgery.

Straightforward in my case, but can understand if self employed, miss out on potential overtime etc

The Police can't just ignore you like they used to . They have to reach minimum standards now in what action they take. It does not mean they will prosecute, but they cannot just ignore you like in the past

Just like to point out, the neighbouring force is managing to ignore, as they've done in the past.

Our resident (il)legal adviser gives inaccurate any incorrect advice once again.


Please stop giving false and inaccurate legal advice no matter how good your intentions are.

There is no legal reason that loss of earnings etc cannot be recovered in full

Follow up the matter using the mechanism in the Victims code. It is there to stop this happening, but if you let the police ignore it they will

I've used mine for my case, you can get Ride Viewer (ver 1.4) which shows you all the data in tabular format, and it shows the bike stationery.

Strava and Garmin Connect will also show an overlay of where you are on the road, via google earth, but ride viewer will say how long stationery etc.

It showed my at 13mph when the car hit me, and then the bike was flung some distance and was on the floor for 30 minutes (also shows elevation).


PS GMP will do bob all ! Report it for the sake of a 'reference number'.

Interesting, I thought that strava would be to inaccurate. Glad but not glad you were able to use it!
