Advice please:

Needed Ladies Bike suitable for 5ft 2 ish, that will only get used may 1/2 to a dozen times a year. Most likely riding will be on cycle ways eg national routes, Forest routes etc.

Will be going second hand and given its amount of use the lower price the better.

Will anything do really, or should i look for something specific? What size should i be looking for?

You'd probably be best with a hybrid.

As you're going to use it so little it might be worth asking your local bike shop if they hire bikes. For paying a daily rate for the 6 times you need the bike would get you a newish bike that's safe, well-maintained and the right size for you. It would save you the hassle of storing it somewhere and you wouldn't have to pump the tyres up before using it.

Thanks, I forgot about the value in the decathlon bikes. Will have a look. A little more than we wanted to spend, but might be worth saving up a little for.

All a bit depends if you can find a used bike in the correct size and in good enough condition that it needs nothing spending on it. Get the peace of mind with Decathlon bikes as have a warranty

You never know, with the right bike, she may be inclined to ride it more too

You can have swmbos old bike if you want for £50, 14 months old and done maybe 700 miles, would benefit from a new chain.

why not spend a bit more and really get into cycling?!

stu

I dont think she will ever be serious cyclist, but can see her being a social cylclist with me on camping holidays and days out.

We have a 3 year old, who will also have to ferried along, who quite enjoyed the 20 mile trail we did last summer. Bloody hard work for me.

So obviously someone limited what we can do together as cyclists. I just at the moment spending a huge amount would bring any massive benifits are over a second hand or a cheapish new one.

Might be a little far as we are in Liverpool. Probably not looking until we get christmas out of the way, but its the kind of price we were ideally looking at.

What are the bike details?

You could get a folder, every household should have one. I have no idea how I managed without one for so long. It has the advantage of one size fits all, so you can use it as well.
OTOH, for fifty quid the bike upthread seems too good to pass up.
