Please could anyone tell me if this Lapierre make is any good. I am looking for something light with a triple chainset, as the compact gearing is proving too much on the very steep hills I have near me. I want to cycle up them rather than having to get off and walk, and don't feel it's doing my knees any good.
I was looking at the Trek Madone 4.5T but this seems quite heavy considering it's carbon. Lapierre above seems quite light. I certainly want to remain lighter than my hybrid which is 10.75kg, otherwise there seems no point in graduating to a road bike, but I want to have the good old choice of gears like I used to have on the mountain bike. Thank you.

Selly - Lapierre are a very good company and are more known for their mountain bikes, but I've heard good news on their road bikes. In comparison, the Trek is a rival to the Lapierre and is only 600grams/just over 1lb than the Lapierre
In my opinion, you should buy the Lappy' as it's very similar to the Trek. If you don't like the tight ratio cassette on the Lappy' just upgrade to these in 12-27t or an Ultegra or Dura Ace. If you don't want to spend a lot, just a Tiagra 12-30t. You'll find 12t+ cassettes easier for hill climbing than the 11t+ tighter cassettes.

Have a look at Rose bikes, they seem very light by comparison, allow you to configure the bike how you want it (cassette, stem length etc etc) and are excellently specced for the money. They also do women specific models aswell.
