Hi All,

I've been involved in raising £300 for a laptop for a young man with a terminal illness. What is required, is a laptop with Windows 10 installed (he's used to that OS) and it must also have the ability to play FIFA Football Manager 2016.

What I would like to know, is will a 'standard' laptop be able to play that game ? Or will one be required with a graphics card with gaming capabilities ?

It does not matter, if the laptop is new or refurbished; all that is required, is Windows 10 and Fifa Football Manager 2016. If anyone can suggest a specific laptop within that price range, that would be much appreciated. If anyone can provide any ideas where such a laptop could be purchased, that would also be appreciated - a difficulty that needs to be overcome, is that the charity which has raised the money will only make a payment by cheque.

Thank you for any suggestions.

For that money (new) you can get something like an Asus or Lenovo with an intel core i3 processor, at least 4GB RAM. Check the usual places (Argos, Amazon, Tesco). I got one not long ago for £289. It came with Windows 8 though which is shite. Unfortunately you can't get the Win 10 free upgrade anymore.

In terms of screen quality, for £300 you're unlikely to get a top notch screen, but to be honest the actual picture will be fine. I've found with lower spec screens that the quality is as good as the average person wants, but the viewing angle can be sketchy (i.e it goes black/grey/faded if you're not viewing it straight on).

other than that I don't think you'd need an uprated graphics card for that sort of game. You could always look the game up online and view the minimum requirements but I think intel core i3 and 4GB RAM would be ample.

You could also give these guys a ring, they can advise and often have used/refurbished laptops so might get a better one for the budget?

'Cheers' for the link, Andy. I don't play computer games, so I wasn't sure what the requirements would be.

We'll give Laptops Direct a try.
