Can anyone recommend an half decent laptop, i5 processor maybe?...It's for my granddaughter who's starting high school soon etc,
So up to the £500ish, needs to be fast, i'm thinking at least 4gb ram and 1 Tb HD......Needs to last her quite a while lol.
Cheers.

I was listening to a computer expert on the radio last night, giving recommendations, and he said he always buys re-furbished ones... pre-owned by businesses, well-looked after, cleared out and new software loaded (without bloatware) and much cheaper... not sure where you get 'em tho...

Buy the magazine Micro Mart and they have loads of refurbished laptop sellers advertising in there.

We have a 3rd Gen Core I5 Pavilion and a latest Gen i7 HP Envy. Not sure if the baby HP Envy is just out of budget. The Envy range has Nvidia graphics cards

The fans went on our HP laptops, now have Lenovo and Asus. I guess there is going to be a lot of typing so I'd get a laptop with keys that have a good positive action over the make .....

Just a thought....

Many companies offer educational discount (even Apple)

Also the School may run a license on software that enables cheap use

It may be worth chatting to the school

Bought one as a gift for Woman and were both extremely impressed.

I have to have a windows laptop for SAR planning as all the software is Windows based, so being thick and knowing nothing I play it safe and get a Dell every 3 years or so,
My OH was impressed enough with Chromebooks that she now has one too.

I still need Windows too unfortunately. I've limited Windows to the desktop and my laptops run ChromeOS and Linux Mint.
