Late October - Tour des Grandes Alpes

I wouldn't...I have read that Sept is really the latest you should go - largely because the weather can be so changeable, rather than the snow risk.

Might be a bit late really, depending on how well in to October you are going? Most cols may well still be generally ok but some may be snow affected at times so you would be best to plan your route with alternative lower passes if possible. We couldn't get over the Col de Bonnette in late september a couple of years ago due to snow closing the road and had to go Col de la Cayolle instead.

Thank you both.
Am doing England - Africa: ie Spain north - south instead now.
It is the intention to use sun lotion for at least part of the ride - not thermals!
