So I was riding in today, and when I got to the last mini RAB (I go left, then right at the next T-junction, controlled by lights, a couple of hundred yards after the RAB) before work, there was an unusually long queue, which I joined. Traffic seemed to be backing up a bit from the traffic light junction to the left. We inched forward. Not normally like this. Got round the RAB eventually, and filtered up to the T junction. Sitting on the corner was a nice big, obvious police car. Ah.....

I reckon the queue was because the 2 or 3 drivers who would have sailed through on amber or red on each phase were suddenly being very good....:bravo:

Well, at least no-one was going to get hit by the RLJs and everyone arrived at work uninjured.

Slow 'em down enough and they'll find a non-car way of getting around like walking or an a bike. Then they'll all live longer as well.

Oh quite. I wasn't complaining at all. Barely affected me (maybe an extra minute on the journey), and it was nice to see all these people suddenly being very conscientious.

It just shows the power of visible policing. One guy, one car, and all those little offences avoided.

Mind you. Make him unmarked, and they could have made some dosh for the public purse pulling people up after the event...

Funny how those motons who say it's impossible to obey the rules/ stick to speed limits/ say no to an alcoholic drink/ etc/ etc suddenly become able to do it just because Mr Plod's nearby.

The first set of lights that i go through has cameras, presumably to catch RLJs. Never seem them go off, even when cars go through several seconds after they've gone red. Would be great to see any sort of police around there.

Never mind unmarked - just park up for an hour around here at the moment and they'd make a fortune charging those with broken headlights and illegal number plates.

I think I missed the law change that made these both legal last year sometime....
