Rode 127 miles along the Leeds/Liverpool Canal towpath (not bad for a 51 year old grandma  who only started getting serious on her bike at Easter this year). Awesome day one - Fri 10th July: 71 miles. Fab day two - Sat 12th July: 56 miles. Slight aches in my knees but that's about it. Raised a guaranteed £1409.31 and if all the 'promises' come in, it'll rocket to a fantastic £2127.66 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Now THAT makes me feel real happy! Thanks to everyone on Cycle Chat for their support and good wishes. xxx
ps. if anyone would like any information on the ride, please feel free to drop me a personal message - I'll do all I can to help. Ohhh, and, if anyone would like to donate to this cause, please click on the link - many thanks in advance

lastly, yes, before you say it, I know I look like Tinky Winky (the purple Teletubby) in the first pic - some camera angles are soooooo unforgiving xx(

Kracking that, Kay, well done. And as for the Tinky comment; on the Maratona Dolomiti route last Sunday, there was a team of female Italian cyclists in that same colour who bore the legend "Tinky Ladies Pinarello" on their bums. I think I may have gazed on one or two of them!

Well done to all that have completed this ride. A few of us are doing Liverpool to Leeds on Saturday the 1st and Sunday the 2nd of September. I did a bit of a practice ride yesterday from Riddlesden to Gargrave then back onto Snaygill and I found it very hard going (mainly due to it being my first long ride out this year and my bum really hurting!) I've ridden Leeds to Keighley before and the surface it's excellent but I don't know what to expect from Gargrave through to Liverpool. Can anyone summarise what percentage is horrible rough, bumpy, bum breaking terrain as opposed to nice and smooth surfaces like Keighley to Leeds as I need to get myself mentally prepared for the pain lol! Also we are looking at accommodation just over the halfway mark and have seen the Holiday Inn Express in Burnley but are concerned about where we'd leave our bikes for the night! Can anyone recommend any alternative accommodation?

Well done Kay, my elder sister died with MS so I'm grateful to you for your efforts. You survived Burnley? Wow!

To Porg: I used to live in Burnley near the canal and would have been happy to store and service your bikes for you but have moved on now. Holiday Inn express gets OK reviews but don't accept room 101: http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUs...press_Burnley-Burnley_Lancashire_England.html If you contact them in advance I'm sure the manager will be able to find you a lockable room for your bikes.
