I was out yesterday on my trike when I spotted another trike rider he was riding on a piece of flat waste land near the road so I went over to say hello, I first noticed it was a hand propelled trike and then noticed he had no legs, as I got closer I also saw he had no fore arms just a carbon prosthetics.
There was a lady with him and she told me it was his first day out on the trike, she took a photo of us both, I wished him all the best and then we parted.
On the way home I thought what could have caused him to loose his limbs, his lips had also been affected too, he was in his middle 30s, was he an ex soldier had he been in a fire I could not get it out on my mind I felt so sorry for him.
When I got home I remembered “flesh eating disease” there was a man at Southampton Hospital who had that he had lost both legs and one arm at the time, later he also lost the other arm it was reported on him saying “just a minor setback”.
I did a Google and sure enough I found him he is Alex Lewis from Stockbridge and I was about ½ a mile from there it wasn't until I saw his photo that I knew who I'd been talking too, I felt so humble
I'm not the best of health and I complain, but there he is trying to ride a trike and pushing himself, I think I would curl up and wish I would die, but no he carries on with his life, the girl that was with him must have been his carer as it wasn't his wife, she asked me for my email address so that she could send me the picture, I declined, now I regret it, for I find him a very brave and courageous man.
