Ok. That damn Arallsopp did it last year. And then he wrote the book. And one or two of us have been stupidly inspired.

Obviously, it's a long way off. But assuming no major life changing complications, I'm up for giving it a try next time.

Anyone else? Hell, even if we didn't end up doing it, the training and mutual support could be a good thing. There's no shame in chickening out later, but it would be fun to think we might have a 'team'.

I've already set myself a couple of targets. A century (my second) by the end of May. And 200 km by the autumn.

Any advice from the Master would be welcome!

I'm pretty tempted, only cycled 170 miles in total last year but have recently started commuting again, inspired in part by Arallsopp's story.

How tight is the number of spaces does anyone know? Is it normally oversubscribed?

This is just the sort of thing we need advice on from the more knowledgeable.

There's some info on last years ride here:

http://www.londonedinburghlondon.co.uk/

including, in FAQ, a training/target schedule for the last year...

Other Q's are, do we have to join AudaxUK? As Andy had less than a year to prepare, I'm guessing we can leave some questions for a year or two...

LEL is a fine challenge, but don't forget there are others!

Paris Brest Paris (IMHO) should also be considered. It's the daddy and for good reason; it's brilliant in every way!

I suppose I should point out that LEL is an audax, and this thread would be better placed in the Audax part of the forum - rather than Touring.

Yeah, I know.... but... well, Arallsopp's thread was here already...

Move it if you think best....

I was telling someone at work about the LEL, and she was halfway through saying what madness it was when I revealed I was thinking of going for it....
