This could be legendary...

Any chance some of the Lushketeers might be up for it? Although, I don't think it will cost much to drink ourselves unconcious at the end!

Since Andy knows the way, we stand no chance whatsover of getting lost!

Me too.
I've joined AUK and just figuring out which 100s & 200s I can get a pass for.
Quite a step from there to 1400 km.

Maybe a sub-section in the Audax section needed, if there is enough of us?

My local CTC (Hull) does a 400k audax which a few used as preparation for LEL.

Looking at the FAQs on the LEL website, it said there were no qualifying rides (but obviously, you have to train!). That is right, is it? Being carless, I'm limited to how far I can travel to take part in organised events (and trains are impossible with the trike). But I guess one has to be a member of AudaxUK to take part in LEL? I wouldn't begrudge that I guess, even if I didn't get to many organised rides.

I'll start a thread in Audax, and if it looks busy enough, maybe we can sticky it. Although 3 years is a long time for a sticky!

I was not, and am not a member of AudaxUK. There were no qualifying rides, and a reasonable contingent got around so I'm guessing that won't change.

I can share my (intended) training calendar if you fancy, but it'll only kick in for the final 6 months before the event. I didn't manage to join any organised events (even missing the dun run) but would recommend a few FNRttCs or overnight rides.

The rescuing factors for me in training were:
- Having access to Dellzeqq for day rides to the coast + a fast local loop.
- Finding ILB, who got me from 60 to 250+ mile days.
- FNRttCs for learning night, group, and sleep deprived riding.
- The Mouseketeers for company and inspiration riding to/from not quite local CC rides.

If your motivation works like mine, solo rides are good up to about 4 hours / 60 miles, but then it gets a little hard. If you can make that a 60 mile run to find another CC'er, then a loop, then a 60 mile back, you're all good.

I am so not the expert on these things, I feel quite silly even posting this.

I think it would be good to copy that into the thread in "Audax, etc", and then maybe lock this one and shift over to that section, otherwise we'll end up splitting the good advice and so on.

hang on, I could maybe merge them...

or a mod could, I mean...

If I knew one...

Actually, I dunno how, I'll just copy that last one over...

Anyway, anyone wanting to join in, look for the thread in the Audax section...
