A bit dated but anyone interested in any pictures. ? Although a keen cyclist at the time I attended this with my ' hobby photographic ' hat on. I have plenty of pictures, maybe if you were riding I photographed you ? I will post a few now and plenty more if anyone wants to see them.

OK, here are some more from the same day.

On a sad note the Gentleman (with the whiskers) is Luciano Berruti the Italian founder of L’Eroico. Luciano sadly passed away in sept 2017 at the age of 73.

Is this an event that is no longer run? I do know there is the repeat of the original run of the L' Eroica in Italy next year.

  • It was first held in the Peak District in 2014 and ran annually at the Bakewell Showground until 2019.
  • The event was then put on hold, partly due to the pandemic.
  • Goodwood acquired the event in June 2021 and planned a fully-fledged return for August 2022.
  • However, the 2022 event was cancelled just two months before it was due to take place, citing "logistical and supply chain challenges".
  • Sadly, no further plans in the UK at this time.

I am Not connected to the below event and not sure it appeals to me due to having to pay to go on a bike ride

https://www.oundlevintagefestival.co.uk/events/classic-bike-rally/

It's a donation to the community fund. I would have loved the Peaks event, but my bike was a couple of years too new - 1989, and had aero brake levers. Although the Oundle event is 2010. Ohh Velo Retro, my bike qualifies. Dura Ace 7402 was released in 1989 and that's when I bought it.

I have a Raleigh 1971 so it could enter if I was in the area; and 10 pounds for tea and a piece of cake and a nice day out with enthusiasts seems reasonable to me.

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
Great photos @Scaleyback

I have a mid 80s(?) Dawes Shadow that I bought in almost new condition, it had spent its entire life in a garage. It superficially meets the criteria but they might not let me in because on closer examination it's clear that I've fitted wimpy lower modern gearing. And ditched the original steel rimmed wheels. (I also accidentally ran one of them over with my car so I can't return it to its original state)

I think if I did want to go on such an event I think I'd have to get into the spirit and try to prepare something a bit more strictly period correct.

In my teens I had a handlebar mounted water bottle similar to the ones pictured. I made the bracket myself from jubilee clips and a coathanger.
