Never heard of one of those in any trade I have been involved with.

Here's an advert for one in Local Government. This time called an Employee Relations Officer I think.

OP needs to talk to the"Reward Team" as they are usually termed. They will be able to explain the options, but they will be unable to (read prevented from) advise.
