Does anyone know of a small-scale machine that will suck excess air from a plastic / foil pouch (within which hard objects have been placed) - ie: vacuum extracting etc, and then seal/crimp the end? Obviously the seal will be a 'hot' process but the rest of it needs to remain cool - so no regular shrink wrapping. Also, any ideas on a similar small-scale inkjet? date stamper to print a production batch number / date on said labels?

Grateful for any help. ('Small scale' means 'a dude standing in front of said machine, filling the 'pouch', sucking, sealing etc for about 500 units a go...)

The last time I tried to be serious on here, I asked a question about carton printers and met a forum member who has 'delivered' the goods and made my stuff real - and improved his company turnover - a happy thing for both of us!

A few places I've worked for use Lava machines. A bit more durable/dependable/servicable than the QVC type stuff.

edit: As for batch number printers. The 'industrial' stuff is expensive (eg Sauven printers - although they do make this). I've seen SME's just print off a few sheets of self adhesive labels with a bog standard inkjet/laser printer.

Admin - chalk up another satisfied customer.

I spoke with the guy who is the agent (I guess) for the firm that make the machines. "Yes, no problem" he said. Also happy to organise a custom size pouch for the particular need I have. Also got a result for the batch printing and production print detailing I need, so all in - a good afternoon's 'work'.

Admin - who he? ;)

my mate has one of these, and enthusiastically dragged me into her kitchen to show me. To demonstrate she decided to seal the freshly cooked dinner she had done for her mum who lives down the road. Beef, mashed potatoes, peas and cabbage .

I watched with glee, and she watched in horror, as we realised she has pressed the button for "vacuum and seal" rather than just "seal". It was quite interesting, and very funny to see how flat her mum's dinner could become, especially the mashed potato and peas.
