Has anyone had lithotripsy to get rid of a kidney stone and if so, what is the recovery period like and for how long, also what was the procedure like itself. I've been booked in for meetings on the 7th having it done on the 4th will I be at the meetings or will I need longer to recover?

I've had 5 sessions of lithotripsy to break up 2 stones, one 10mm dia. Each procedure lasts for about 30 to 40 minutes although its not painful it does get a bit uncomfortable. You will be offered a local anesthetic, I decided after the second session to do without it. Recovery time is about an hour, then back to work. The frightening bit is when you do a pee
afterwards, which they encourage you to do, it can be a bit ros'e. Also the debris starts to come out over the next few days which can be eye watering. Be careful with the pain killer tablets, as some can have nasty side effects. Generally the whole treatment is very easy. Good luck hope it goes well.

Thanks TG it doesn't sound too bad........I will try to avoid the pain killers but will certainly go for the sedition during the procedure. I have just one 7 mm stone.

I wish I had been able to have mine removed this way... I had to have double stents inserted...and i mean INSERTED...ouch.

Yes BB the last one I had they had to send up a cruncher. Just looking forward to getting back on the bike as this stone seems sensitive to movement .
