I have an Abus Granit X 54 jobbie which I am using having had a bike nicked after my lighter cable lock was chopped  Now the Abus is a beast and heavy to lug around in my backpack when all I am doing is popping to Tesco or for a coffee. I have been looking around at some of the sold secure rated Abus cable locks but the web seems full of tales of woe

I was looking at this initially and then watched a video on YouTube of some German picking the lock in about 20 seconds

http://www.rutlandcycling.com/33154/Abus-Centuro-860-Steel-Lock---2011.html?

and then moved on to this which gets 5* from Bike Radar and costs £50

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/abus-granit...ranit_Steel_O_Flex_1000_100cm_Cable_Bike_Lock

but then this put me off! http://road.cc/content/review/5306-abus-steel-o-flex-1000100

Ideally I'd like something small, lighter and that can be easily hung off the handlebars for a short while. I am cack handed and often get befuddled trying to fit the Abus around a Sheffield stand, so needs to be simple!!

Ideally under £50 which falls in the 10% rule...cheers

OK, thanks...just a pain to take a bag when I am going out for 30 minutes for a coffee. Probably going to get a rack fitted so I could just attach it to that with a bungee

Thanks MP
I think I'll be better off spending the moolah on the rack and fitting for now

In your OP you suggested this was for "all I am doing is popping to Tesco or for a coffee".... in lycra bottoms??

The Fabric horse attaches to a belt.

Yeah, I tend to ride a bit and then go shopping or for coffee...I don't go out without padding. Never cycle in jeans for example, maybe cropped cargos in the summer
