Looks like the outside bike storage will be ready soon and we have to stop hiding our bikes inside in the dry.....
Its a pretty remote, open site and the storage is in a fenced off service yard. Its a comparatively crappy cycle shelter which I've managed to persuade them would be better off with Sheffield stands, rather than the supplied wheelbenders.
I'd like to think the bikes'll be secure, but it's not that far inside the yard gates, they'll be pretty visible and the yard gate won't be closed ("but there's a barrier" - yeah right, an unmanned, horizontal steel bar is a real deterrant.....)
So I'm thinking I need a lock. I don't need a lock to take back and forth, I'll leave it there. So it doesn't need to be lightweight and cycle specific. What it will need to be is weather resistant. Its going to be out there 24/7 and like I said .. crappy shelter.
Any ideas?

You don't need 'a' lock. You need 2 locks at least. Preferably one of them a D-Lock, making sure you fill the lock completely with the frame/stand.

And if you really what to go for it, get a Motorcycle Gold rated lock
Better a Thatcham approved chain such as Almax.

A cheap 120db motion sensitive alarm may help as it will go off when someone starts "interfering" with your bike.
