Have been talking about a more informal, self-organised cycle to Paris next year with some friends at work but have also been asked to participate in the above. Has anyone ridden in this event previously? On the face of it seems a bit too organised/competitive for what I'm after with points, jerseys etc. I'm fairly serious and want a challenge but part of the fun for me is the journey and having the flexibility to stop off where I want. However, before I say no, I would welcome any views in case my perceptions are unfounded.
