Registration open. Yours truly might make appearance, if I can face the no train between CBG and Ely on the return trip. Fingers crossed we avoid a repeat of the 2021 Not Maldon event.

The last London Night Ride of the year, a gentle saunter to Maldon in Essex. Heading North East and avoiding places with Ford in their name, we climb very gently to our halfway control arranged by the scouts at Doddinghurst (not far from Shenfield if anyone is struggling).

From then on it’s mainly downhill to the coast, through Blackmore, on via the Walthams and Terling, then South East to our destination, The Mighty Oak at 96km.

Registration is now open here: https://forms.gle/xz4Nf7NAvKaeLaxz9 (please remember to pay £8 for the halfway stop as detailed in the registration form)

Maldon Station is in Station Road. As the last train was in 1964, here are options for getting home:

After four nightmare train journeys to and from the East over the last month or so, I will be driving to Maldon with Senior Management for the weekend and using the train to That London on the Friday night. See you there. :okay:

There will of course be as usual the All-Upper & TEC team to abuse anyone who suffers a mechanical. They will be on suitably hopeless machines.

Haven't done Maldon before, and didn't think i'd be available.
But fortune smiled and as of tonight I'm a late sign-up.
Have looked at a previous ride report and am looking forward to adding another destination to my Fridays playbook.

Hmmm, which bike...

Good luck all!
I've done one FNRttC ever, and I'm still in trauma counselling...

I discovered I don't cope well on overnight rides.
Someone - Aperitif? - took a photo of me slumped on the verge at the top of Ditchling.
I had entirely lost the will to live, and it showed!

Genteel ride 2009, found it. Night rides don't suit everyone (as you found out). You could always pop by for breakfast sometime if that suits…

Ah, 2009 the year of my first FNRttC the shorty to Southend with one modest hill. Ditching, even genteely, is a braver start ;-)
Will I see you tomorrow night Stu? It's been a long time...
