Bicycle: a means of transport between cake-stops
Location

I'm planning a London to Paris ride in the Spring, which will be one of my leisurely touring pace affairs - about 50 miles a day, along the Avenue Verte route.

I'm thus looking for accommodation recommendations for the following:

Day 1: East Grinstead (or anywhere between Crawley and East Grinstead)
Day 2: Newhaven (close to the port)
Day 3: Forges-le-Eaux (or somewhere between there and Gournay-en-Bray - short day as ferry arrives Dieppe at 14:30)
Day 4: Villier-en-Arthies or thereabouts
Day 5: Paris, ideally Saint-Denis/Aubervilliers area, but anywhere north to central

Main criteria is secure parking for bikes, preferably a garage as getting the trike through doorways can be a pain. Less bothered about the traditional cyclists' breakfast as I tend to eat light first thing then do a stop for a proper brunch after 15-20 miles.

All other advice on this route welcomed. Will most likely do it in April, when I'm guessing that winging it on accommodation would be ok (expecting it to be a small group of maybe 3-5 people), but always good to have recommendations if possible.

If you're interested in joining me, let me know. Want to keep it small (absolute maximum 6 people), the main criteria for co-riders is subscribing to the meandering holiday spirit of these things: lazy starts (10am-ish departures), leisurely pace (10-12mph moving average), two stops of about an hour each along the way (so 15-20 miles between stops). TdF candidates need not apply. :-)

I'm fairly sure we stayed here when we stayed in Forges.

Nice and comfy, basic 2* Logis. Must have been reasonably priced - the organiser sorted all that and we just stumped up the total at the end. I'm sure the evening meal was good - plenty of local stuff on the menu.

I think they opened up a garage for us to park all the trikes in.

Am very tempted to state my interest, but can't be definite - I might prefer to explore somewhere less familiar next year. But I know the Avenue Verte and like it very much, and would like to explore further than Forges some time..

How would you be getting back?

BTW, it was on the Radio 4 travel programme this morning, did you hear it?

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Alastair Sawday has got a chateau B&B in Gerberoy, which is close to the route at Gournay. Miles away from anywhere, though - you'll need to cadge a lift to get supper, or bring a picnic.
