just a little tip for anyone looking for a cheap bike on a tight budget, maybe a cheap commuter bike that you don't need to worry about leaving in the street, or just a knock about bike for the kids...
take a look at your local "tip", or recycling centre as they like to call them these days.
as an example, i picked this bike up for my daughter today. it's a Raleigh Diva, with front suspension fork. the current model is selling for over £160 so I'm guessing this was a similar price when new. The rear Derailleur had been twisted out of shape (turned out it was just the hanger), the chain guard thing is split and there are a few scratches on the rear chain-stay.
other than that it's like new !!!!
Guess how much i paid ??
it was like an aladdin's cave down there with two really old road bikes, a bike that would have suited the wife and another for my eldest daughter, Had they needed them.
it's worth taking a look, even if you just want spare parts !!!
