Hi Guys,

I am looking for a packable cycle waterproof jacket. I am a road cyclist and i cycle mostly for leisure and occasionaly do some sportives.

I want something that i can pack into my jersey pocket, is breathable, and waterproof.

I didn't want to spend more than £50. Does anyone have any recomendations. I have an old madison jacket but is useless. I was looking at some of the DHB jackets on Wiggle, just checking see if anyone might recomend and have experience using them?

Breathable and waterproof is a bit of a holy grail, especially at £50. Pit vents are useful but many which are waterproof are a bit boil in the bag if you are prone to sweatiness at all!

Endura pak-a-jak, altura pocket rocket and Montane velo H2O seem to get decent feedback, bearing the above in mind. Don't recall seeing a review of DHB, but look at the comments on Wiggle

I use one of these myself in the yellow, should go in a jersey pocket (not that I do as I hate having stuff against my lower back), it is a bit BITB but it is certainly waterproof and keeps me warm (I get v cold when wet and would rather be a bit hot and sweaty than frozzled)

Anything that might be able to keep water out doesn't stop the steam condensing on the inside so regardless of whether it's raining I get soaked wearing a waterproof jacket....

Ta guys.

I already have a Gore Jacket which is windproof. It's great as a waterproof and held up to a harsh day of rain on a coast to coast ride. However i stick to wearing this when its colder.

I guess you are right about the price. Im a wimp when it comes to the weather and if i get the slight sniff of rain i put off going cycling! Might have to stretch the price for a decent jacket i guess.
The madison one i picked up on offer was £40 and just made me sweat and didn't seem to be remotely water proof.

I have had some good Endura stuff before i might take a look.

I've found the Montane Velo very good with a jersey (plus thin arm warmers underneath if it's actually raining) but as others have said, not completely waterproof. Not so nice against bare skin in the rain - it clings - hence the arm warmers. I lost it from my back pocket in Harrogate but will be getting another as it's the best lightweight, windproof I've owned and just about within your budget.

Edit: just seen your response above so maybe not what you're looking for.

My husband was VERY jammy earlier this year at the Specialized shop in Harrogate, he got a £100 Gore packable jacket with 75% off.
Just today I got a ladies £60 Craft packable jacket for £12 in TKMaxx. Didn't look at men's stuff but might be worth a look if you have a store near you.

I have a Craft Performance rain jacket and it's the closest thing I have to the holy grail without breaking the bank. Cost me £70-ish a few years back but I think they are more expensive now.

Speaking of luck I was cycling through Harrogate the other day and found a lovely Montane Velo jacket just lying at the side of the road? Obviously some poor bugger had lost it out of their back pocket. Result for me though? ^_^
I also recently bought a Pearl Izumi Pro Barrier Jacket. Nice close fit, wind proof and copped a shower the other day and it stood up ok? One rear pocket. One slight criticism is the sleeves are a tad long but got it in a sale from Evans for under £50.

I have 3 pockets on the back of my jersey. Would this fit into one of them do you think?

I bought it to carry in a rucksack and use when required on a commute but I've just tried it in two different jersey pockets and it fit in although it's a bit bulky. ( if that makes sense )
