I'm looking to get a cyclocross on my works cycle to work scheme....

I've not really had a bike since I was a kid except for a cheap mountain bike - and I know it's the tyres that I hate about them.

Looking to get a cycle cross as a good all rounder, although I'll probably use it on road mostly.... also don't want something with flat bars as I want to try drop bars for a while.

I can't get a board man on the scheme, but have tried one (just on a turbo trainer - once the staff figured out how to set it up)

Like the look of the Trek Crossrip Comp (testing one tomorrow), I also like the look of the Giant Anyroad (but they are out of stock everywhere)... Might consider the Giant revolt instead....

Any advice that you can give me on advantages / downfalls of these or any other bikes would be appreciated.

Oh, I also like the 'panic' breaks on the Crossrip as I won't be confident on the drop bars so this gives me some confidence.

How much you wanting to spend on the actual bike? I'd check out cube and genesis, both do cx bikes.

The scheme limit is £1k for which ideally I'd get decent pedals and some small lights too.... Although of bike went up to the full cost I could get that stuff 'as and when'.

Considered the cross rip, handsome bike and comfortable. Can't help thinking it is poor value for money, with the claris group set. Another 150 off the price would have been a good price.

That's Trek and Specialized for you, and to a lesser extent Giant and Cannondale

But you do get a lifetime warranty on the frame for the original owner, unlike cube for example where I think it's 5 years on alu

Go on, tilt your head!
Another vote for Genesis here

I was in a similar position to you. loking at CX bike for commuting and as a good all rounder.

I looked at some of the bikes you have listed but in the end went for the Giant TCX SLR2. In the month i have had it, i have nothing but praise for it but admittedly i don't have much experience.
