Hi guys, I love my tricross but it wears too many hats to be perfect so I'm looking to leave it a bit racier and build something better for day to day ect.
I want a big front rack to be able to put a camera bag or anything bulky (beer) on, a rear rack for panniers ect a good relaxed riding position, the ability to ride in jeans, disks and hub gear. Long term I'd like dynamo lights too but budget is a bitch
I like the look of a surly long haul trucker disk built up with a nuvinci hub and moustache bars. For racks I love the portland design works front and rear racks (tubular steel with a wooden shelf). This runs to 1500 ish if I build with a dyno hub but buy the lights later
I'm buying from practical cycles (building wheels ect and some bits like a centre stand) and Charlie the bike monger for everything else.
I can bring it down to 1200 ish by buying a normal front wheel, fitting calliper brakes and general cheapening up (budget saddle/tyres no front rack ect) but then it's not as good a bike and I'll need to spend more to get it where I want it later.
Can anyone recommend any ways to cheapen up the build or any other frame options (comfy and relaxed) or anything
Also is there a practical difference between bb5s and bb7s?
Edit the Internet says bb7s piss all over bb5s so that's that difference then
