Loose cycle computer

I went out on my bike this morning, a mixture of town and country roads. Having left the town at one point and heading into the country, I was heading down a nice hill and decided to get a good speed going. As I did so, I looked at my cycle computer to see what speed I was doing (about 25 mph at that point), looked up, pedalled a few yards further and looked at the computer again only to find it was gone. Realising it could only have gone in the last few yards I stopped and luckily after a couple of minutes found it intact in the road. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. It's a Cateye Strada wireless. I'll probably put a small piece of blutac at the back or front of the cradle to stop it happening again.

no but mine does rattle about a bit. i wedged a small piece of card under mine to stop it shaking about.

A strip cut off an old inner tube adds grip to all bike related fittings.

You have to push it firmly into the cradle - it'll click when it's secure. Mine's bounced out a couple of times but only when I've been in a rush and forgotten about 'more haste, less speed'. Once in place, they don't shift, even out mountain biking or on fast descents on pretty rough surfaces.

My Sigma became loose in the mount and fell off the bike on a number of occasions.
My Edge is rock solid though.

You have to push it firmly into the cradle - it'll click when it's secure. Mine's bounced out a couple of times but only when I've been in a rush and forgotten about 'more haste, less speed'. Once in place, they don't shift, even out mountain biking or on fast descents on pretty rough surfaces.

Thanks, I'll have to check this again. When I bought it, I noticed it wouldn't 'click' in all the way, but it still works fine. I have an older one on my mountain bike and it sits very firmly in the cradle.

Have to hold my hands up and admit I was wrong. You do have to use a little more force than with my old computer and it secures nicely. The only thing now is that getting it off is difficult, and when trying to do so I accidentally cleared all the data....doh!!! Sure I'll get it right eventually though.

I used to have that problem but I've put a tiny bit of bubble wrap underneath the computer and force it on until it clicks into place, it doesn't rattle and it stays in place. Of course the downside to that is that it's extremely hard to get it off again.

Yip my old 305 has survived a few offs by me and stayed fine and last week stayed firm after a rear end shunt. Its too early to say about the 800 but it seemed to stay true during the tour of Flander (some of which on cobbles) and there's been no reaction in the 156 miles since

There's a knack to it. I always click mine forward to the second distance screen, just in case. Only gripe I've got with the machine.

My Cateye rattled in it's mount. A couple of layers of PVC insulating tape on the mount cured it and doesn't make it harder to remove the unit.

I bought my cateye strada mainly to use with my turbo trainer however the magnetic sensor that fits on the pedal has disappeared and a piece has broken off the cradle but hasn't fallen off yet so will keep my eye on it. Started using it as back up for my phone app in case battery goes however my strada is now flashing and need to work out how to use it properly time to get instructions out.

I lost my instructions but easily got some more by "googling it". Tried the phone app but didn't work that well.
