Loose rear Mech

After servicing my commuter i noticed that the bolt holding the rear mech to the hanger was a bit loose so i tightened it but there still seems to be a bit of play between the mech and the hanger, comparing it to the other bike it does seem to be loose.

Can you get a spacer to take up the slack or is it ok ?

If the rear mech housing is unusually loose against the mounting bolt, perhaps the seal that goes between the mounting bolt and the housing, and/or the seal that goes between the housing and the mounting plate against the hanger are worn/damaged. You can see them in the 2nd photo of this guide, which should help servicing if you wish to. The thing to watch out for is the thing is sprung and bits can fly from one end of the room to the other (if not outside the room) the very moment you loosen the C clip on the mounting bolt!

If the mounting bolt is not loose against the hanger, and if the mech's looseness against the frame/bolt is not impacting indexing, then there is no huge urgency to fix it.

If the bolt isn't loose, but 'body' is, most likely wear and tear. If it still shifts well, leave as.
