Over the last couple of months I have noticed after a couple of 20 to 30 mile rides I always seem to have a couple of loose spokes, no problem tighten them up but it is a bit annoying, it seems to have tied in with the deteriation of the road surfaces, do you guys think this could be the cause? (It is a road bike)

I think you have problem there...

I bang and clatter along bridlepaths on road wheels with 700 X 25's - no problems.

Pop it in to a local wheelbuilder for quick look over and re-tensioning - should only cost about a tenner...

Cheers guys I will check the uniformity of tension. I am ok with basic wheel maintenance. i.e. i can true a wheel but wouldn't want to build one so if it keeps happening off to lbs.

Would that involve him/her stripping down and rebuilding the wheel?

I don't think it does you can drop it on the nipple like thread lock I believe

In any case you can always undo the nipple by say 3 complete turns, apply, and then re-tighten. Do each spoke in turn.
