Love Film have got some special promotion going on at the moment, or so they keep telling me when I'm out shopping. It might be worth checking out.

Boomerang is better than lovefilm for games. It depends what you want really, the different packages are better tiered some places than others. The other factor to take in to account is if you have 1 game a month package and have a prehistoric royal mail service like much of the country where first class takes 3-4 days each way then this bites out of gaming time. Especially since lovefilm/boomerang can be a bit sluggish dispatching stuff. Friends of mine have had to give them a prod to send stuff out.

Also depends what you want for films, if your local blockbuster is huge and has plenty of choice and you want 50p/£ films then that's better. Otherwise blockbuster is pretty bad.

According to Blockbusters when I tried to join them, apparently I have outstanding DVD's that I owe them, even though I've never been a previous member of them.

I'm a member of Lovefilm. I find they are superb. Although I have a copy of American Gangster which they sent me at the end of November and I haven't watched it yet.

blockbusters charged me for late returns, i know i had them in the returns bin before the cut off so after that only retuned back over the counter ,
Stopped going in the end, as unless it was a brand new film only weeks old the discs would be dirty , scratched and in such poor condition 50% would not play , i would tell them this and they would look at me with a look of complete bemusment.

Blockbuster filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last year and has been and will continue to be closing stores. They are also having difficulties paying dvd suppliers, which can end up having implications on renting online and instore. It is just part of the inevitable trend, where the like of Borders, HMV and agency type shops that are slowly and surely being compromised by the lower cost structure of purely online outfits.

For DVD's I much prefer Easycinema although it is ran by lovefilm. The reason I like this company is that I do not watch many DVD's, so I just paid £7.96 for 4 credits. 1 credit = 1 DVD, the 4 credits have to be used within 3 months. If I reserved a title a while before it's release I always got it more or less straight away after it was released. I just would never get my money's worth out of a monthly subscription. If I watched a lot of DVD's I would go for lovefilm as you can also stream films instantly if you have a compatible device. My Sony Blu ray player has this feature, I am not sure if the PS3 does also.

I was offered a one-month free trial for Lovefilm in the post. I thought it was a porn channel or something so I binned it.
No doubt they'll be doing the rounds again shortly.

I'm tempted by love film, the shpeel the sales guy gave was that you keep it for as long as you're watching it / playing it before returning it.

the trouble is, the wife and I put our loose change in a money box on the mantlepiece and then get KFC or pizza with it and go to block busters not knowing what we want to watch but seeing what we're in the mood for that night

Then LF might not be for you Black Sheep, you compile a list of the films you want and can prioritise them in order but it is not guaranteed which they will send at any given time.
