Core strength? Bike fit? Need to get more used to cycling?

It's a bummer isn't it. Something I am struggling with myself. Exactly as you describe, nearly always on the days when I do more climbing.

As vickster says above really. Make sure your bike is well set up for you....if you think a shorter stem would help might be worth a try. Core strength or lack of it definitely seems to contribute too. Hopefully, if you build the miles up gradually you will find your body gradually adapts too.
