Lumpy tyres? Centering tyres?

Hello all. I have Hunt wheels and Schwalbe tyres and for some reason I have high spots which makes the ride 'bumpy'. Is there already a thread on this, or am I the only one with this problem? I have searched the internet and I have the impression it's because the tyre isn't centered on the rim. I've tried talcum powder and washing up liquid to lubricate the tyre bead to help it find it's centered spot to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas on this please?

Yes, try a lubricant like talcum powder or washing up liquid ... oh, hang on

Ah, in which case, no I don't.

Good luck, hope someone else can help

Inner tubes used. High spot at about 90 degrees to valve and I always seat the tyre before I attach the lock nut to the valve.

No, new tyres.

Using tubes? The only (probably useless) thing I have to contribute is to make sure the valve stem is shoved all the way in before starting to inflate so the far end is well clear of the bead when you start pumping.

The tyres will have a " ring marker " on them which if seated correctly will be approx 2mm parrelel around the whole circumference of the wheel rim
If this is case and all looks well here then the tyre may be defective somehow
If you inflate tyre slightly you may be able to pull it out in places to re seat it correctly so this " ring marker " or ( ring of truth ) is visible 2mm outside of rim ....if that makes sense

Take the tubes out and blow them up to a decent pressure. I've had many a tube with 'lumps' on them. If you have a lumpy tube find a tube that blows up evenly when not inside a tyre. Make sure the tube is suitable for the tyre width i.e. don't use an 18-23mm tube inside a 28mm tyre for example. Also just make sure there are no high/low spots on the rim itself. It helps if you have a truing stand for this.

Thanks to all, and to answer those.....
These Schwalbe tyres have a max pressure of 65psi. I don't mind over inflating a little but don't feel good to take it to 120.
Wheels run true.
Tyre width is well within inner tubes (also Schwalbe), range.
The tubes themselves are a little lumpy, but I find it hard to believe that this would effect a rigid tyre, but will try different tubes.
