a) If Ellen Page actually got on that bike after that picture was taken, I will give you 73p
b) We managed for hundreds of years without plumbing too - should we all start pissing out the window again?

Yeah, you can cycle in normal clothes if you like, but I prefer lycra because it is more comfortable and then your normal clothes don't smell of B.O.and don't get covered in oil/ road crap.

There has been spam posted by Gentleman Cyclist advertising his blog on here before, though I'm sure this wasn't your intention, David.

I find him a bit dull and worthy and I just don't get his sense of humour, but to each his own,

No not at all. I googled images from 20's 30's 40's 50's 60's 70's and 80's to illustrate my point and thats what I got and what I pasted but that was all. Only one was from Gentleman Cyclist whoever he is so No intention of any spam.

An excellent point but after a long ride my cyling jersey smells of BO despite deoederant. And who is Ellen Page? As for B well I don't think ladies used to piss out the window. The emptying of chamber pots was the problem.

BTW red hair is the best don't have it myself but red hair and green eyes is my thing. :shy: Never had a partner with that it's just my thing is all.
One of my twins Matthew has red hair, it runs in the family, yep it's the best.

Oh yeah, my cycling clothes reak, even if I stick them on at 60 (Sorry, I have OCD about getting scabies, I have to!) but as I only ever wear them for cycling, I don't care if I do pong. (We are lucky enough to have a shower at work and my flannel goes everywhere else!)

Ellen Page is the star of Inception & Juno and also lady in the picture with the brown shoes/black dress debacle going on.

Cycling in trousers is pants. Then they invented short pants , better though no good in the cold then came along the bike trouser clip. though not as warm. Then someone decided to go out cycling in their 'long johns' in a pair of braces and hey presto ! the classic bibbed tights were born.

Im not sure if any of that horse S*** is true though thats how I see it :-D

In the words of Queen Elizabeth the fisrt... "I take a bath once a month wether I need it or no".

I don't have a bath in my place only a shower but being the rugged chap I am I plunge into a cold mountain stream beneath a cascading waterfall every evening and morning. Sure as I'm riding this Unicorn.

I don't think you need full lycra kit for every ride but there's nothing to beat it for long or intense rides. Biggest advantage I think is the chamois. Anyway I'd feel a complete twerp in tweed. I have a wool cycling jersey but hardly every wear it, I find it hot and scratchy.

I think the biggest advantage of lycra and modern fabric is the speed in which it dries out, after rain or a good sweat.
After riding in a cotton t-shirt recently I realised how much I take cycling clothes for granted.

Also, cycling trousers \ tights are designed to avoid getting stuck in the chain.

You can do most sports in jeans and shoes, but proper sports kit makes it more comfortable.
