Erm, the 4GB is usable. It also shows up as 4GB in Tech Tool Pro and Memtest.
All those tools are measuring what is physically present. Look at Activity Monitor to see what is usable by OS X.

It's arrived! Wow! My first post using the Macbook Air, what a revelation. It is going to take a while to find my way around, but what a pleasure to use, the keyboard is amazing compared to my old one. Thank you again for all replies both positive and negative.

Apple are second only to the IBM/Lenovo keyboards for operation and feel. It's also nice that there's no difference between their laptop and desktop keyboards in operation!

I recall when I had it with windows and moved to Mac. I had a dell xps laptop which I really liked but it had an hardware design flaw. Combined with vista, I wasn't getting along with it. After selling it I continued looking for another windows laptop and happened across the don't site.

Man I was so puzzled by them. One laptop was "quick and beautiful" the other "secure" and yet another designed for "business" and so on (I'm paraphrasing).

The end result was I wasn't sure which windows laptop to buy so inpooped over to the apple site. There I was presented with a couple of choice and each choice had a different screen size. I chose the screen size. I had a quick gander at the spec and that was it, I bought one that day.

Now although my macs are a bit old the software is upntondate and when it cones time to replace my hardware, I will buy another Mac.
