Mad looks

I went out this morning and I was filling warm so I go back inside to get changed into shorts. Yes riding at full belt it was a bit chilly but stopping at the lights I was warm but all the cyclists that I was passing was looking at me weird. I do not know like I was mad but my ride home last night I was over heating.

Am I mad?

Yes you are definately mad.

I had my thick tights on this morning and not one but two coats - two pairs of gloves, polo neck jumper, scarf, hat under helmet and two pairs of socks. I just about managed to be "not freezing" when I got to work! Wouldn't go so far as to say "warm"!!!

I thought that it was bad for your joints to give them a lot of exercise cold - i.e your knees?

I only had a thin pair of trousers on cycling home last night and was fine. I did need long fingered gloves though. Just wear what suits you, and don't worry that people think you're mad:smile:.

I was back in 3/4 things yesterday (with long-sleeve top and short-finger gloves). For me, <5C means long trousers, >5C means 3/4s. Last summer I stayed in 3/4s throughout, as I'm not used to the world being subjected to the sight of my knees. But it was hot at times. So I now own some shorts which I may bring myself to wear when the weather gets proper warm...

I just ride around with my trousers rolled up ( sexy AND cool) .I can't say I really notice the cold while you're going . You mean normal shorts on top of your lycra though don't you (never seen you in just lycra before)

- 3 here this morning. 3/4 jacket, base layer and jacket. I certainly wouldn't fancy wearing shorts - not only due to the temperature but also in case I have an off on the ice.

Spandex = The Brave One ;)

You need to remember that as joints go the knee has a very poor blood supply and wind chill can make it cold and more susceptible to damage.

'And if they stare
Just let them burn their eyes on you moving
And if they shout
Don't let it change a thing that you're doing'

....... is what I always say.
