I take the High 5 Zero tablets in hand luggage regularly and they are permitted. However once to conserve space I put them in my cycling shoes.
Don't do that, they wanted to have a look at what must have been showing in the shoes on the x-ray scan.

I go every year and also stuff my cycling shoes with spare "stuff" and never had a problem. Suggest you leave the energy tabs or powder in its original packaging to avoid having to explain why you have a sachet of "white powder" in your bag! Also, all cycling shops such as Pollenca pro-bike hire and Pollenca cycling sell just about all you need, including cheap bottles which will save you precious luggage space, where in Mallorca are you staying?

Security took 3 tiny allen keys off me 2 weeks ago. said you should have checked them in. "Er, I'm only travelling with hand luggage" " No matter sir, you should have checked them in."
SPD pedals and cleats, no problem. It's like Monty Python these days at Manchester Security.
What can you do with 3 tiny allen keys?

Tabs were in original tubes. I have noticed the staff at Birmingham Airport seem really moody compared to my last 2 trips from Gatwick. Also East Mids staff seem less moody. Guess they were jusrt doing their job i.e. something in shoes aroused suspicion. Even though totally harmless and not intended to cause any alarm.
Got to remember there are people around intent on causing the next terrorist outrage.
Procycle do stock a good range of High 5 products, however the cost compared to buying in bulk back home is considerably more. So whatever you can stuff in your luggage allowance will save you in the long run. Pay the higher prices to stock up when you are running down.

Off topic for a moment, but similar happened to me after visiting the motorcycle show at the Birmingham NEC.. Got sent back from security as I had bought a set of allen keys at the show which they made me check in. After successfully clearing security I had some time to kill before my flight to Glasgow so went into the pub for something to eat. I was served my meal ...... with a metal knife and fork .
