Manchester City Centre... bollards...

Well, not really the bollards, but does anyone know if the bits that are bollarded-off (with the automatic bollards) are pedestrian and Metroshuttle bus only, or if you can cycle there?

There's a big no entry sign with 'Metroshuttle only' written on it as you get to the bollard, but I suspect that's more for persuading the cars not to enter (and get impaled) than ban bikes.

I've cycled through that area without concern, although obeying the traffic lights between exchange square/arndale and watching very carefully for stray pedestrians.

I don't cycle on the cobbled pedestrian sections though. I think that is a definite no.

I don't think they come into operation until late morning and then it's no entry unless you're a metroshuttle, but lots of cyclists do go down there and there's even new cycle parking in the restricted area, and then there's the odd cycle-taxi or cycle-advertising board working on the route. Just be very careful around m&s / arndale as most shoppers don't look before crossing.
