This was donated to Enviroability minus one of its wheels (I forget which) and generally looking as if it had been stored in the sea. I didn't really need another bike, but I've always had a bit of a soft spot for these early MTBs, it wasn't really worth building for the charity, I have most of the bits in the shed to restomod it and it's not rare enough to worry about junking the original bits in favour of better quality more modern stuff. Anyway, I found a wheel and some road tyres for it, fettled it to the point of being rideable, stuck £30 in the till for it and rode it home, via the pub.

Today I got a chance to start stripping it down. To my surprise, it mostly came to bits pretty easily, apart from the bottom bracket shell. After a considerable struggle with a big hammer and a screwdriver, I managed to extract the non drive side cup, but the drive side just won't move. I don't want to get the blowtorch on it, so I think the next step is to put an M10 bolt through the axle hole, lock it in with a couple of nuts, then see if I can unscrew the whole lot with a breaker bar. Otherwise, it's pretty much dismantled and ready for me to start thinking about what I want to I build. I'm inclined to fit it with drop bars and maybe a 1x setup, but I don't know yet.
