Massage oils / rubs

Following on from my chamois question, can I have your thoughts and recommendations on massage oils ?

I last used them 30 yrs ago and no doubt they've progressed since then !

I know very little about them but rally believe in Lavender as a great cure-all for many aches etc. Just be sure to get good quality as there are many rip-offs out there.
