In the news.... there has been an action in court against Mastercard which resulted in the claimant(s) winning. News (including BBC) suggests anyone can claim if they bought from a business which used Mastercard, and no proof of purchase is required. No holding of a Mastercard is required, the reason being the businesses were passing on operating costs to all customers, so even those using cash. At present the 'compo' is about £70 per person who registers, but will reduce if numbers increase. It all sounds dodgy to me - Is it a way of scammers 'harvesting' peoples's bank details?

I looked into this, as I had a Mastercard during the stated period. I couldn't find anything (easy) to suggest how to claim, how to sign-up, what the implications are, or if it's worth my while. With the PPI thing, we were bombarded with calls from compnaies eager to extract their cut of anything we were eligible for. I don't know if the same will happen here, I suspect not as the potential winnings will be £70 at most

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Where there's blame there's a claim as they say. Is there anything you can't make a claim for these days? Sheesh

I read it but have no idea if it's true or not. You can't believe anything you read nowadays
