You don't like it then?

Master Chef is a load of boring, formulaic drivel, presented by a revolting little barrow boy tosser, and a smug Australian w@nker, with a voice over made in hell.

Well... got round to watching an episode at last - part of an episode that is, and by accident, but no matter. I'm afraid I couldn't relate to it, couldn't empathise with it, in the slightest. I understood some of the ingredients mentioned, understood a bit about the flavours they were trying to achieve, after all I flatter myself I know a bit about preparing a meal, as does my wife and also our son: but simple, sensible food set out in order to feed people, to give them the feeling of being satisfied, I saw none of that. A pity, because the ingredients they started from were perfectly sensible in themselves.

True, I have eaten in the sort of restaurant that the contestants aspire to. But not from choice, and not from my own pocket if I can help it! If I have to eat out, give me a reasonably well-prepared pub lunch any day...

Anyway, I learnt something perhaps from the programme, maybe not for my edification...

God this must sound snobbish....!!;)

Well, due to lying flat on my back for two evenings trying to coax my back into some sort of comfort, and not wanting to get up and change channels, I've seen it the last two evenings (well half seen it, while knitting). I'm not converted.

The thing that really irritates me is how seriously they all take it, like it's a matter of life or death. One guy said it had always been his dream to be a chef. Fair enough, but the guy was apparently a 'trainee teacher'. So, it's your dream, but not enough to actually train in catering then? Why do all these passionate cooks need to get on the telly to have a stab at fulfilling their lifelong dreams? Or is it that they don't want to have to do it the hard way, but just want a leg up.
